The Populus was close to the hotel I stayed in, so we chose to have our last meal in Singapore here. This ended up being the perfect choice! We ordered the Breakfast for Champions, Superfood avotoast, and matcha oat milk latte. The avotoast was topped with an impressive amount of kale that made it look like the toast was a side piece and the kale the main attraction. It was a challenge to figure out how to eat it, but luckily, a fork and knife were provided! It sure made me feel 10 times healthier eating this meal lol. My matcha latte was on point and just like how I make it at home. Service was excellent and the staff were attentive. Ambiance was peaceful, which makes it perfect for studying, working, or socializing.

Food taste wise was good - typical kind of cafe food. Pancake was savoury and not the usual kind of pancake made w butter batter. Think they used spring onions. Quite a vege taste. Coffee was decent. Atmosphere is great for couple date and friends catch-up.

We ordered delivery for Mother's Day. Definitely some of the best brunch dishes I've had! Seafood linguine ($21) - 5 stars Stellar! They braise the linguine in lobster bisque and the result is a rich and flavourful pasta unlike any I've had! The scallops and crabmeat were cooked perfectly. Hands-down the favourite dish at our table. Buckwheat pancakes ($20) - 3.5 stars Too dry this time - definitely better when we had this at the cafe itself - but still had good flavour. The passionfruit curd and berry compote that came with it had just the right touch of sweetness. Populus scramble with lobster bisque and crab meat ($22) - 4 stars My sister wished the croissant could have been packed separately. Decadent scrambled eggs with the lobster bisque and crab meat but eggs only do so much for me. I personally prefer the seafood linguine. Butter rum banana French toast ($19) - 4 stars Solid but I'm a dessert alcoholic and thought it could use more rum. Topped with Greek yoghurt. Tuscan lamb harissa baked eggs ($19) - 4 stars Had a tiny bit of this. Pretty sweet from the tomatoes. Flavoured well. The ciabatta was a little hard. Wagyu beef donburi ($18) - 4 stars A touch too sweet. The toppings (purple cabbage and ginger I believe) were well done as was the Japanese rice. Strong truffle taste. I didn't try the beef though.

I must say this is a solid place for a brunch spot. A combination of great food and great ambience. We all ordered the following dishes: - Chicken Burger - Spring pancake and fried chicken. - Avocado Super food green platter I ordered the Chicken burger, which came with a side of Cajun spiced fries. The chicken patty itself was a piece of fried chicken ( same as the Spring pancake and fried Chicken, but still good nonetheless) the fried chicken itself was juicy but a bit on the small side. For the spring pancake itself, is a hard pass though, so if you're craving fried chicken, the burger is suffice. A friend ordered the Avocado Super food green platter which just looked super healthy, it did lack a little on the flavor side. Overall, I think I just found my new brunch spot. You do need to reserve in advance as this places filled up quick.

Nice coffee served, however it can get slightly noisy when it is packed during the wkends. Gd for a quick brunch or dessert, but slightly pricy. Will try to return on a wkday again.

This place is one of the reasons that I don't mind stopping off in Singapore before heading elsewhere. Okay, while Singapore isn't necessarily a place where I would spend too much time, these coffee shops are actually pretty cool, particularly since a lot of them serve a pretty decent drop. Okay, since I don't drink all that much coffee anymore, I can't comment on the coffee, but I can mention the tea, and the breakfast options. Basically they have some good selections, though it is a little pricey, but that is to be expected in Singapore. It is also a little out of the way, but it is certainly worth checking out.

I had the teriyaki salmon donburi and it was surprisingly delicious. I love anything with runny egg on top, and this one was one of the best I've seen. The salmon was well-cooked and you get a good amount of fish for the bowl. I loved the cucumbers in it as well, and the rice was just the right texture. I wish I'd tried the coffee here, because seeing all the other coffees go by me was really tempting.
